PHYSICAL EDUCATION MAKE-UP SHEET

Directions -You are doing this sheet because you missed class time due to a personal or school-related reason and need to make it up. You are expected to have one or more activities below completed one week after your return date. Do one activity per class period that you missed.

> Do 30 minutes of activity - in the sport we are doing if possible and if not do the following - Jog, Walk, Hike, Bike, Ski, Skateboard, Roller blade, etc. Write a paragraph about it & include a parent signature.

> Watch the sport we are doing or another sport on TV and write a paragraph about it.

> Watch an athletic event at Mt. Abe and write a paragraph about it.

> Research & write a one page report about the activity we are doing or about a famous athlete.

> Do one of the webquests on the PE link at the Mt. Abe homepage on the Internet.

> Make a word search using 15 words from the sport we are presently doing.

> Present a sequential cause-effect chart of a person's health and the sport we are presently doing.

> Tell the story of the sport we are doing through illustrations.

> Develop a flow chart of a series of sketches showing the benefits of the sport we are doing to overall health.

> Create several different conditions that might affect performance in the sport we are doing; that is, fatigue. Do 25 push-ups, sit-ups, and/or squat jumps before playing the sport. Then close one eye and do a skill, relax and imagine the skill, then try it. Describe the difference - before and after.

> Create a rap song or play an instrumental piece that best describes the sport we are doing now.

> Listen to the sounds at a game. How can nature's music and the fans' cheers influence the game?

> Demonstrate how the sport we are doing creates partnerships and friendships.

> Interview a veteran of the game we are playing in class to find out why they have played it for so long.

> Record how self-talk and imagery influence success for the sport we are doing. What do good athletes say to themselves and /or imagine before and after a game or specific skill.

> Relate your own skills in the sport we are doing to those of any athlete you have watched or read about. What are your strengths and weaknesses compared to the experts?
